  • Buying or acquiring a piece of work and presenting it as your own.
  • Reusing your own original material without including the reference to your earlier work is considered self-plagiarism.
  • Use your own words when you write.
  • Do not copy the text verbatim. Include the copied text as a quotation and cite the source.
  • Identify and recognise the sources of information you find.
  • Cite the bibliography you use.

We recommend you look at the tutorial in the section "Comunicar i utilitzar la informació" on the page Vídeos i tutorials [ca].

Antiplagiarism programs exist, which are electronic programs that trace plagiarism. They are computer programs that compare texts and can recognize whether a piece of work has similarities with other texts already published. These programs analyze a wide range of files (word, pdf, ppt, HTML, etc.).

The virtual classrooms at UVic UCC are equipped with a plagiarism detection service called Urkund to analyse the authorship of texts that students send to the platform.

The system is enabled by default for assignments, workshops and forums in Moodle. When a text is sent to the classroom, it is forwarded to the Urkund plagiarism detector, which returns a report to teachers so they can see the matches found with various public sources and UVic-UCC repositories.

In case of plagiarism, teachers can apply the sanctions established by the academic regulations [ca].
