Doctoral students can obtain an International Distinction, providing that the following circumstances apply:
- During the training period required to obtain your doctorate, you have undertaken a stay of at least three months at a higher education institution or renowned research centre abroad, studying or doing research work. The visit and activities must be assessed by your thesis supervisor and approved by the CAPD, and must be included in the Doctoral Student Activity Report.
- Part of the thesis (at least the summary and conclusions) has been written and presented in one of the common languages of scientific communication in your field of knowledge, other than the official languages in Spain. This rule is not applicable when visits, reports and experts are from Spanish-speaking countries.
- The thesis has been assessed by at least two experts at any non-Spanish academic institution or research centre and an expert from UVic-UCC holding a doctorate.
- That, at least one expert belonging to a higher education institution or research center not Spanish, with a doctoral degree is part of the doctoral panel, and different from the persons mentioned in paragraph 1.
Application
To apply for an International Distinction the following forms should be sent to AGA with a thesis deposit authorisation form:
- A research visit certificate issued by the head or research in the country where the visit was carried out, certifying that requirements have been met for the International Distinction.
- Reports from two experts from non-Spanish higher education institutions or research centres and one from a UVic-UCC expert holding a doctoral degree.
