To obtain the Master's degree in Specialised Translation students must take a total of 60 credits. Of these credits, 18 are from compulsory courses and 12 from the final master's dissertation (TFM). As for the remaining 30 credits, students have two options:

• Choosing a specialisation with 15 ECTS in related courses and 15 ECTS in a different specialisation. The TFM should be linked to the chosen specialisation.
• Taking a total of 30 credits from the choice of optional courses, without choosing a specialisation.

Please note that the optional courses are divided into two years, so to complete a specialisation you need to take two years to do the Master's. Similarly, you can also obtain the master's degree in one academic year, if agreed in advance with the coordination. In this case,  you cannot specialise and you must enrol in the optional courses offered during that academic year.

The programme is part of a context in which linguistic mediation is increasingly important. Therefore, in response to societies' demands and the today's professional realities, it prepares trainees to work in environments marked by multiculturalism, multilingualism, multimodality, multitasking and use of ICTs.

Orientation

This degree initially offers students the chance to approach the principal areas of research in translation and then to continue with advanced studies that lead to a doctoral thesis. It grants access to the doctoral programme at UVic-UCC in Translation, Gender and Cultural Studies and Educational Innovation and Intervention.

What's more, it also allows you to choose a professional track that prepares you for professional translation in the fields that generate the most demand.
