Master's degree in Montessori Education (0-6 years old)

The  master's degree in Montessori Pedagogy (0-6 years) has already closed enrolment for the academic year 2024-2026.

As this is a biennial master's degree, it will be reopened to new students in 2026.

The University of Vic, in collaboration with the Montessori Institute of San Diego (MISD), coordinates the officially certified European Master's Degree in Montessori Education, recognised and validated by the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI).

The Montessori method is a widely recognised pedagogical approach around the world. It is inspired by "integral humanism", which considers human nature as unique individuals fully able to act with freedom, dignity and intelligence.

The main objective of the Master's Degree in Montessori Education is to provide comprehensive training, within a suitable scientific, philosophical and methodological framework, to work as a Montessori method teacher with 0-3 and 3-6 years age groups.

You need sufficient English to consult bibliography. You also need sufficient skill in the main language of communication in the Montessori classroom where you do your practicum.

Distinctive features

• This is the only European Master's Degree in Montessori Education recognised and validated worldwide by the International Montessori Association (Association Montessori Internationale, AMI).
• Besides the official European Master's degree, at the end of the course, students will be awarded a certificate of the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) as a teacher with 3 - 6 years age group. This certificate is essential to work as a teacher in Montessori classrooms.
• The Master's Degree course offers the AMI qualification to teach in Montessori 3 - 6 years age group. 
• Intensive on-campus class sessions are held in the summer months (June and July), making it easier to combine continuing education and professional activity.
• There are specialist teachers from different countries. In addition, students can choose to do Master's Degree practicums in international centres.
• Students may also do their practicum at the Montessori-Palau Culture and Sports Complex, a model Montessori school that is a Master's Degree partner centre.
• Once you have obtained your Master's Degree, you may choose to continue your academic training in doctoral studies.
