Martín Floor receives the Horitzó Àsia grant for a research stay at the Chinese University of Hong Kong

Martín Floor, a researcher in the Research Group in Bioinformatics and Medical Statistics of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology at the UVic-UCC, today received the Horitzó Asia Grant of 2,550 Euros, which will enable him to undertake a research stay at the Arieh Warsherl Institute of the Chinese University of Hong Kong in Shenzhen.

The Osona School of Teachers celebrates its fortieth anniversary

During the 2017-2018 academic year, the Faculty of Education, Translation and Human Sciences will be commemorating the fortieth anniversary of the establishment of the School of Teachers that constituted the beginning of this Faculty, as well as of the University. The main event in the commemoration will take place on the 18 May in the Atlàntida theatre in Vic, with an interactive show that will highlight the history of the School and the values of education.

Statement by University of Vic - Central University of Catalonia

University of Vic - Central University of Catalonia, Balmes University Foundation, the Staff Committee, union representatives and the Students Council have agreed to:

- Suspend classes between 11:30am and 12:30am today (October 2nd 2017) so that university community members can attend the rally organised at 12pm in the Plaça Major in front of Vic City Council.

- Stop all activities and close the University tomorrow, Tuesday 3rd October.

Dr Linda Aiken: "Our nursing staff is a national asset"

University of Vic - Central University of Catalonia today invested Linda H. Aiken as a Doctor Honoris Causa. With this honorary doctorate, the University has recognised one of the leading figures in the world of nursing, who with her research has contributed to enhancing the prestige of the profession worldwide, assessing nurses' contribution to patients' recovery and quality of life, and to gaining recognition for their role in the smooth running of hospitals.

Dr Linda H. Aiken will receive a doctorate honoris causa from UVic-UCC

The University of Vic - Central University of Catalonia will confer a doctorate honoris causa on Linda H. Aiken, after the proposal by the Faculty of Health Sciences and Welfare. Aiken is a world-renowned authority on research on health services and the causes and consequences of existing nursing structures, in both the United States and the rest of the world.

Around 300 people attended the lecture given at midday on Tuesday in the Aula Magna at the UVic by Dr Bonaventura Clotet, director and researcher of the University's AIDS and Related Diseases Chair. In a lecture entitled "The eradication of AIDS is now possible," Clotet reviewed the basic aspects of the disease and talked about recent breakthroughs that have taken place in the fight for the cure.
 

Andreu Mas-Colell: "The governance model of the UVic-UCC facilitates the internationalisation of university studies"

The University of Vic - Central University of Catalonia (UVic-UCC) inaugurated its first educational facility in Barcelona at midday on Tuesday. It did so with a lecture by the economist and former Minister of the Government of Catalonia, Andreu Mas-Colell, who gave a lecture entitled "Reflections on the future of higher education." Mas-Colell referred to the UVic-UCC, saying that "its governance model facilitates the internationalisation of university studies, which is a challenge, especially for private universities."
