Compulsory personal accident insurance
Personal accident insurance is provided by Surne, Seguros y Pensiones, with Willis Iberia Corredores de Seguros as intermediaries, for all students on official or Balmes University Foundation (FUB) courses.

Compulsory civil liability insurance
The FUB provides civil liability insurance through Mapfre, with Willis Iberia Corredores de Seguros as intermediaries. This insurance covers possible third party compensation derived from civil liability beyond those covered by the FUB and its branches.
Compulsory school insurance (Social Security)
Compulsory school insurance for students under 28 years old covers accidents occurring during activities organised by the centre, and some illnesses as stated by Institut Nacional de la Seguretat Social (INSS).

Student travel insurance
- Outgoing FUB students taking part in international mobility
FUB students taking part in international exchange programmes (outgoing) must sign up for personal health and travel insurance (option A) or sign a document renouncing their subscription to the insurance policy (option B).
- Option A: Signing up for travel insurance through the FUB
The FUB offers insurance covering accidents, illness and repatriation to all students visiting other countries for a specific time period of 6 or 12 months. This includes students who are studying as well as those on a practical placements.

Applying for a policy |
Fill in the application form including the cost of the insurance and your bank details. Send the application form to uvic@willistowerswatson.com with proof of payment attached. During your stay abroad you should carry your insurance policy on you. If necessary, the UVic mobility services may ask for a copy of the insurance policy. |
Additional information |
A policy will not cover more than one year for any single period of exchange. A policy cannot be extended to family members of the registered student. In case of a medical emergency the policy-holder should contact the insurance company. Normally, the cost of medical attention is paid and is later claimed from the insurance company. Note that the policy covers insurance during outward and return travel and health insurance during the exchange, but it does not cover travel to other countries that may be carried out during this time. |
