The UVic-UCC is Spain’s most transparent private university
The University of Vic - Central University of Catalonia (UVic-UCC) is the leading private university in Spain in terms of voluntary transparency, by means of its Transparency portal. Those are the findings published in the Transparency Report produced by the Commitment and Transparency Foundation for 2016. The UVic-UCC achieves the maximum score since it complies with all of the 27 indicators in the report, including wage issues, governance agreements, financial information, employability results, academic results, and strategic aspects.
This year, the Foundation has taken into consideration that the UVic-UCC has published its academic results on the portal for the first time, which is what has made it Spain's only private university that meets all the transparency requirements. It is followed by the University of Nebrija, which complies with 22 of the 27 points, and the University of Navarre, which complies with 21. As for the Catalan private universities, the International University of Catalonia (UIC) and the Open University of Catalonia (UOC) comply with 16 of the 27 points, and fall within the "translucent" band.
Among the public universities, the University of Cantabria is highest in the ranking and also obtains the highest score. Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) is the most transparent Catalan university, obtaining 26 of the 27 points in the assessment. It is followed on 23 points by the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC).
The transparency report 2016 examines voluntary transparency on the website of Spain's 49 public universities and 26 private universities. In the ranking of compliance, universities are classified into three distinct groups: the "transparent" universities, which comply with 20 of the 27 indicators examined, including financial statements and the audit report, "translucent" universities, which comply with at least 15 indicators, and "opaque" universities, which obtain less than 15 points.
