The call for selection of the UVic-UCC rector opens

The Balmes University Foundation has opened the call for the selection of the new rector for the 2018-2022 term. Candidates can apply for the position referring to the detailed profile on the UVic-UCC website, and they have from 1 September to 15 October to do so. After all the candidatures have been received, the committee will meet to select the candidates who will have to be assessed by the Executive Committee of the Balmes University Foundation.

The members of this Committee are Josep Arimany representing Vic Municipal Council, Mercè Rosich representing the FUBages, a representative of the Government of Catalonia, Joan Font on behalf of civil society, and Núria Simó as a representative of the university community. Oriol Amat will also be joining the Committee. Other members, who will evaluate the candidates beforehand based on their academic and research merits, are three external academics - the UAB professor and ex-president of the College of Doctors Miquel Vilardell, the former secretary general of the Inter-University Council of Catalonia, Claudi Alsina, and the director of ICREA, Antoni Huerta.

The new call for the post of rector opens three months after the resignation of Oriol Amat, who had been selected in the previous call, due to unforeseen family circumstances.
