Non-EU students who have a study stay permit can carry out work activities without the need for an additional permit as long as their study stay permit indicates that it authorises them to work.

This permit allows students to work up to 30 hours a week as long as it is compatible with undertaking their studies. Its expiry is subject to the end date of the contract and/or the expiry date of the TIE (foreigner identification card), although it is renewable.

More information

The residence permit to search for employment/entrepreneurship (Job Seeking Visa) is authorisation to reside in Spain to look for a job that is appropriate to the field and level of studies of each person or to undertake an entrepreneurial project, once official higher level studies have been completed.

This is a non-lucrative residence permit, which means it does not allow work. Once a job has been found, the company must process the change from a job seeking visa to a work visa.

The maximum duration of the permit is up to 24 months, non-extendable, counting from the expiry of the previous study stay permit.

Application deadline: you can apply between 60 days before and 90 days after the expiry of the study stay permit.
