European Union studies or equivalent
Students coming from educational systems of countries that are members of the European Union or other states that have signed international agreements on a reciprocal basis: Andorra, China, Colombia, and the United Kingdom, must follow the two steps described below:
Students coming from educational systems of countries that are members of the European Union can start undergraduate studies in Catalonia under the same conditions as students who have passed university entrance exams, provided they apply for accreditation with their entrance mark through UNEDasiss.

- List of educational systems eligible for this process
Optionally, students can improve their entrance mark by either:
- Taking the specific phase of the University Entrance Examination (PAU) at any university in Spain. The two highest marks will be considered after weighting. For more details, consult here.
- Completing the subjects of the Specific Competency Tests (PCE) through UNEDasiss. The two highest marks will be considered after weighting. For more information, consult here.
Foreign studies outside the European Union
This corresponds to:
- Students from foreign education systems with studies that can be recognised as equivalent to the Spanish high school diploma completed in a non-EU country's education system.
- Students with studies recognised as equivalent to the Spanish high school diploma completed in an EU education system, but who do not meet the requirements to access universities in their country of origin.
These students must process the definitive recognition of the high school diploma. Consult the information regarding the recognition of diplomas on the website of the Catalan Department of Education or the Spanish Ministry of Education and Vocational Training. Access to the University cannot be obtained with a conditional registration certificate or with the request to have initiated the recognition procedures of the high school diploma. However, university application can still be carried out (Article 4, RD 412/2014), but admission is conditioned to the submission of the definitive recognition documents before the university application deadline.
In addition to processing recognition, these students have different ways to ensure access:
- University Entrance Examination (PAU or EBAU) (any university)
- Evaluation Test for University University Entrance Examination (EBAU - UNED)
- UNEDasiss accreditations issued in 2017
- Specific Competency Tests (PCE)
- Without any entrance examination for students from education systems outside the EU (September call) If you have the recognition of the high school diploma or the conditional registration certificate, a place will only be assigned if there are still available places at the end of the process. All information on the four possible routes to university can be found here.
